Can you carry my story for a moment?
Participate in a small ceremony in which the coat is handed to you and you may carry it temporarily with the question: what can you carry from another? After wearing the coat, Raven asks to leave a response for the storytellers. These responses are later passed on in person to young people in care facilities. Dozens of dignitaries (including the mayors of Groningen and Amsterdam), artists and concerned visitors previously wore jackets.
Wearable Stories is a collection of coats by Collectief Raven in which underexposed stories of young people from care institutions (including Elker Jeudghulp en Onderwijs, Cordaan and various State Justice Youth Institutions) are brought to life in a special way. The coats of the Amsterdam fashion label Bonne Suits are the canvas. Together with the makers of Raven, the young people create the outside and inside of a coat. The makers of Raven then have different people wear the coats, so that the young people’s stories are literally and figuratively worn.
Collectief Raven, in collaboration with Jonge Harten and Elker (youth aid & education), is further developing their artistic practice with The Art of Wearing. In this ceremony, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the coats in which wearing is central. During Jonge Harten, Raven explores with high school students how your behavior affects how you feel inside. In customized workshops, high school students will work with Raven teachers on the coats.
