Johnny loves me – ZELF
Johnny loves me performs a new performance entitled ZELF, in which he focuses on self-discovery and self-acceptance without external frameworks.
Known for his debut album “Really?” in which he explored vulnerability within the context of others, he is now working within the frames of himself. Thus, he began in an empty space where the possibilities for something to emerge seemed endless.
As a result, he is immersed in his emptiness. Perhaps for the first time in his life, he is completely left to himself. In his upper chamber, sounds echo and fragments of images are projected. He is close to his own skin, trying to distance himself from his self-image. However, this proves easier said than done.
He struggles to get a grip on his thoughts and memories, eventually trying to turn them into physical and mental exercises. The performance highlights the process of learning to trust yourself, letting go of self-image, and self-acceptance, taking Johnny one step closer to true self-love.
This performance is part of our collab with Noordstaat. Special thanks to TALENT VAN HIER.
