How does Jonge Harten make the festival program?
Jonge Harten is there fot it’s audience. Especially for a new audience, for young people aged 12-29. The programming of Jonge Harten consists of two parts:
- performances for young people aged 12 and over, mostly taking place during the week;
- performances for people aged 18 and over, mostly taking place in the evening and the weekend.
In order to choose theater plays, performances et cetera to complete the program, our programmers Karlijn and Gregory travel all year round to festivals and theaters. The emphasis in our program is on productions by the new generation of theater makers. Theater makers who have already made a few works after graduation. At Jonge Harten all genres are discussed and shown in theaters and at special locations. Our programmers focus on work from the Netherlands and Belgium, supplemented by special productions from further afield. They seek a balance between performances that are Dutch or English or in which language is not a barrier.
At Jonge Harten we want our audience to be able to identify with the performances that can be seen at the festival. At the same time, ‘discomfort’ during Jonge Harten is central. The search for a balance between discomfort and recognisability is leading in shaping the program.
Do you think your show really suits us? Send us a message. Unfortunately, it is not possible for our programmers to personally answer every e-mail or see every performance (live). Sometimes an online registration offers a solution. Entries for the coming edition can be sent to info@jongeharten.nl until 15 August 2024. Entries for 2025 are also very welcome.
